Pink Pig Appeal         HOME

Disabled Children's Home

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Park Lodge International and the Golden Valley First Responder Unit with many others have made a difference.

An idea in November 2005 has become a reality (May 2006) with the help of many people from UK and Tanzania – money donated changing children’s lives – their smile says it all and the work continues in 2010

HELP STILL NEEDED

This was the film made for the original appeal in 2005 (certainly worth watching), as you can see below, the generator is in position and the appeal was very successful.  We are now looking at getting a 20' freight container which will be filled with IT equipment and donated building materials from UK to Dar.  In October with the help of West Midlands Fire Service a new IT teaching centre will be built to enable the youngsters to gain some good qualifications to enable them to get employment.  It is difficult for these young people to find any employment opportunities, everything we can do to help is a bonus.

If you can help in any way, please email us on info@rowlstone.org

Thank you

Patiently waiting

One of the cheques being handed over - the AP Power generator proudly in place

Organisations that made it happen:

Not only is it a difficult task to get 189 children to bed in the dark but the manufacture of artificial limbs also stops when there is no power - and sometimes they are without power for 18 hours a day because of supply problems.  That has all changed.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service overseeing the obligatory water and children routine

West Midlands Ambulance and Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue looking at the children's work in the classrooms, their work was very neat.

Wherever in the world - children and fire engines

The big hand over officially - The Acting British High Commissioner to Tanzania and the Officer Commanding Salvation Army Tanzania

The fund raising will continue towards the running costs and servicing, money making a real difference to the people it was intended for - it can be made to work.

From a Pink Pig being kidnapped from an ambulance at Craven Arms and taken to Tanzania through to the generosity of AP Power and Plustronics all the people involved have made the idea a reality.
